Birthday Biking

So, those of you that don't know -- Andy bought a 1990 Suburban about a month ago.  It is a beauty!  We are calling it our "Mountain vehicle."  Our family of 6 would not fit in our Bronco anymore.  Well, this weekend we put the Suburban to the test.  We loaded 5 bikes, a bike trailer, helmets, a cooler, softball gear, 4 kids, and two adults inside that thing and headed for the hills.  Not up the mountain, but down to Big Rock Candy Mountain.  We rode in comfort!

We enjoyed a picnic for lunch and then hit the bike trail.  You can see the "Candy" mountain in the background.

Lane and Griffin enjoyed the ride from inside the bike trailer.  As you can see, Lane took  good care of Griff.

The kids loved the paved trail that felt like a little road.  They pretended to be cars.

We stopped and cooled off in the Sevier River.

Andy looks as if he is sick, sad, or mad.  But no... just sleepy!!  He sat down for longer than 5 minutes and when that happens, he falls asleep.

After wading in the water and eating a snack, we hit the trail again.

We stopped along the way to climb on some rocks.

After the ride we played some softball at a park and then headed home. It was a perfect day trip and a perfect birthday.  Who needs an extravagant tropical getaway for their birthday? :) Not me...just a day cruising in the suburban, bike riding, and hanging out with with the kids.  Maybe the tropical getaway next year?

We missed you when mom and I came down for Wilbur's funeral but I was thinking about you on your birthday...looks like you had fun at Big Rock Candy Mountain..oh, I did see you...the picture in Wilbur's funeral program...nice hair, by the way!!...in all our defense, that period of time was not kind to ANYONE..hair, clothes, make-up...really really bad for all of us...my girls can't believe how I let them leave the house with some of their hairstyles of the late 80's and 90's..perms, perms, ....really bad...love you.

You definately blew it. No pictures of the Birthday Girl! In the far away future, you and your kids will wonder just what you were celebrating. Always be good to yourself...as well as the family. You will never get presents if you forget you!
Sending love to all, and those kids remind me of Tucker kids... love to have fun! Good parenting!

lol. I remember my parents doing the exact same thing. We called ours 'The Burb.'
It was the vehicle I got to drive to school the day I got my drivers license. I was sooo embarrassed. But my parents thought it would keep me safe. It turned out to be a cool ride once we figured out EVERYONE could pile in and go to lunch (code for slough) together.
