Mr. Bald Eagle

AJ had a school assignment. He was to pick a symbol of America, write a report, and then create a picture or a model of his symbol. His choice was the Bald Eagle. After some brain storming on what do to for a project, we came up with Paper Mache'. I remember doing paper mache' in grade school and I loved it. So, I "Googled" some paper mache' instructions and we went to town. AJ thought it was a blast. He couldn't imagine that once the paper dried we would be able to pop the balloon and the paper would stay the correct shape! AMAZING!

AJ likes a good messy project.

After two layers of paper mache', white paint, yellow foam beak, googly eyes, and lots of white feathers, he had an awesome Bald Eagle head. That was pretty exciting for a 1st grader (I was quite pleased that it worked too!)

He took it to school with pride. Mr. Bald Eagle will be displayed for all to admire -- :)
