Rock On! That was the title of Madison's Jr. Genius project. After weeks and weeks of studying, collecting, and identifying rocks, Madison finally presented her project to the class. It went great. She explained how rocks are formed and showed different examples of each. She explained the effects of weathering and erosion and showed pictures from our adventure at Devil's Ribs. She created a pamphlet for each class member that will help them identify rocks that they collect. She also gave out some rock candy and a geode key chain to each person. It was a big accomplishment for her to get up in front of her class and talk for 15 minutes!! Way to go Maddie!

She described how igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks form. She later told me that her legs were "really shaking" while she was standing up there!

These are some example of Sedimentary (layered rock) that she found and shared with the class.

Mrs. Jensen, her teacher, helped Madison pass out the goods at the end of the presentation. We can honestly say that Madison is officially a Jr. Genius when it come to rocks! I guess I will relax and let her continue to add to those bags and bags full of rocks that clutter her bedroom closet!!

Is she wearing a mic? That is adorable. What a smart darling girl.
Madison's great great grandfather Jensen would be extremely proud of her. He was a geologist and we still have his famous rock collection. Madison may be a Jr. Genius, but she is still a brat...
How fun!!!! I totally remember Jr. Genius. What a great project!!! It sounds like she did a wonderful job.
